The Path We Choose

This is my first time writting on a blog, especially writing about my opinion in English. I'm doing a challenge to write English thing by reviewing one article per day, guys. So, forgive me if you found so many mistakes. Feel free to admonish me when you feel you have to. Here, I'm trying to give you some perspective in some cases based on my 'limited' knowledges and experiences. Currently, I just finished reading an interesting article and now I want to write my little opinion. You can agree or disagree about my perspective also. Here it is...

Reviewing to an article by William Morrow / Harper Collins “Giving Young People an Alternative to College), American and indonesian have similarities in life after high school. Maybe not only in Indonesia, but it happens all over the world. Currently, teenagers have limited options of continuing to college after graduating from high school. Only few of them who have desire to work, except for those who cannot afford to pay the tuition fee and have to meet necessities of life.

Today’s teenagers are faced by a stigma in society which said that ‘if you are not going to college, then what are you gonna be?”. That is what makes young people feel ashamed if they do not go to college. Moreover, most parents, especially in Indonesia, want their children working as government officer or working at a big company so that they are competing to achieve the highest score in academics to make them accepted. In fact, like we all know, the number of occupations is very inversely proportional to the number of bachelor’s or master’s graduate.

Stigma in society that looking for a job, must be change to create a lot occupation like become an entrepreneur. Just few teenagers who have vission to run a business after graduating from high school. In fact, the sooner we start, the sooner we get successful. It is because entrepreneur isn’t a prestigious occoupation for majority of society. As a matter of fact, entrepreneur has a low reputation because it takes a long time to grow and reach money compared to the office workers such as big company or goverment.

Being an entrepreneur is not only talking about profession, but characters. Entrepreneur is not only limited to sell, trade, or business, but more so. It can be an artist, an athlete, an analytical, or someone who does what they like because entrepreneur is a combination of characters like someone who has a vission, always want to go forward, inovate, never give up, persevere, and help others. When we have the spirits of entrepreneur, what we want truly become, what the path we choose, that’s never be the wrong way because those values lead us to the way of successful.

So, there are so many things to do after graduating from high-school, not just college. The option not only for going to college. Just, follow where our heart wants to go! Do what we like to do! Don’t listen what people talking about you if they only make you fall. Just be yourself, keep exploring, and believe in your own way!
